Checkout Security and HTTPS |
| Q. When I checkout, I don't see a secure address (starting with https://). I don't want to give my credit card over an insecure web page. Is the NicolasHair.com checkout page on a secure server? | |
| 9/6/2006: We've moved to a new server: the addresses below are from the previous server. But the checkout is still on a secure server. The check out form is different now, too. | |
A. Yes, the NicolasHair.com checkout pages are all on a secure server. The reason you don't see the https:// in the address bar is because the site was designed using a feature called "frames". The left side of the page stays the same while the main part (right side) changes. The address bar only shows the address of the original frame page (http://www.nicolashair.com/store/), not the address of each page shown on the right. When you click on "Checkout", you are taken to a page that is on a secure server. The first part of the address is "https://secure.ncws.com/eshop/....". The rest of the address varies with each page and order. You can view the address for yourself, depending on the browser you use. The information below only applies to Internet Explorer 6.x. Other browsers may have simpler ways to see the address.

| Here is a samle order at the page requesting the credit card information: | |
![]() |
| Right-click on a blank spot on the order section of the page and choose "Cached Snapshot of page". This will return an error saying the page was not cached, but it will show you the address. Note the address starts with https:// . | |
![]() |
| Other browsers may offer the option to "open frame in separate window". If you do that, you will see the address in the address bar. (The left navigation bar will not be shown since it was in a separate frame.) | |
